the oxford public philosophy blog is a space for critically questioning what philosophy is and how we're doing it.
we welcome work that investigates received assumptions about the nature and aims of philosophical inquiry, including contributions that question structural norms of currently dominant research programmes. opp will contribute to rigorous discussion of these matters in part through openness to different genres, styles and themes.
we accept pitches and pieces of all forms, including but not limited to
prose essays ✶ poetry ✶ visual art
the aim is to make room for the possibility of strengthening, broadening or contesting our interpretative frameworks and field of consideration.
we also publish reviews of
films ✶ music ✶ books (fiction and non-fiction) ✶ lectures
that can help us to reimagine what ‘philosophical inquiry’ is, broadly conceived.
opp will endeavour to acquire review copies of proposed books for the reviewer upon request. book reviews and prose essays should be around 1,500 words in length, and follow our guidelines. (though we encourage creative engagement with our own practices)
submissions and pitches are open on a rolling basis.
